Our Story

Our Story...

Sparks of Hope is a faith-based, volunteer operated recovery support center located at 107 Main Street, Hamburg. Sparks of Hope Recovery Support Center is a ministry of Hamburg United Methodist Church and the Southtowns faith community. We put faith into action by supporting individuals and families struggling with the disease of addiction by offering friendship, fellowship, and faith to individuals and families in need.

Sparks began when people felt God calling them to action.  A chicken barbecue, a flyer, and a  step  in faith resulted in the ministry at Sparks of Hope.  We provide services to the community at large that will help individuals avoid the use of alcohol and other drugs, thereby preventing addiction and the negative effects of substance abuse.

Services we offer include:

   - Peer recovery coaching for both the person with the addiction and their families/support network.

-Support groups: Family Support, AA, NA, Al Anon, Adult Children of Alcoholics, Living Free

Lifestyle classes that we hope to add in the future will help people in recovery reduce stress and maintain a healthy lifestyle, such as exercise, budgeting, food preparation, knitting, carpentry, journaling, writing, G.E.D., tax preparation, career selection, job skills, resume writing, rebuilding credit, parenting, are some of the offerings coming to Sparks soon.
